Solana Foundation, in collaboration with Google Cloud, has introduced Pay.sh, enabling AI agents to autonomously settle payments for Google Cloud services and a variety of other APIs using stablecoins on the Solana blockchain. The service operates via an API proxy hosted on Google Cloud Platform, linking agents to backend services through x402—a publicly accessible AI payment standard initially developed by Coinbase and currently managed by the Linux Foundation. Additionally, it accommodates the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP) from Tempo and Stripe.
This innovative platform allows AI agents to pay fractions of a cent per API interaction rather than opting for traditional monthly subscriptions. It supports integrations with services such as Google Cloud, Gemini’s Claude Code, OpenAI’s Codex, OpenClaw, Hermes among others. Moreover, Pay.sh interfaces with blockchain infrastructure providers like Helius and Alchemy, and data service providers including Dune Analytics and Nansen.
The introduction of Pay.sh coincides with a broader industry trend where leading technology and cryptocurrency companies are intensifying efforts to establish payment infrastructures for autonomous AI systems. Coinbase recently launched an x402 app store specifically designed for agents as part of this larger initiative to showcase blockchain’s utility beyond mere trading.
These emerging platforms primarily cater to enterprise developers looking for programmable money solutions that traditional payment methods do not offer, facilitating the creation of innovative business models. Google is also expanding its cryptocurrency payment infrastructure capabilities. Earlier this year, they announced an AI agent payments protocol in partnership with Coinbase and the Ethereum Foundation. Other industry players such as Stripe and MoonPay are similarly advancing their efforts to empower AI agents to conduct transactions using stablecoins on behalf of users.
